Karen Jo Fields "4 songs EP"

The fantastic Karen Jo Fields will release new material on January 3rd 2011. The EP «4 songs» is produced, recorded, mixed and partly co-written by Rune and will be released by Mas-Kina Recordings.

Arms On Fire says hello

Today, the brillant Arms On Fire released their debut album titled "Hello Youth". The album was recorded and mixed by Rune Lamøy/Sounds Like You and will be celebrated by the band themselves on stage at Garage, Oslo this Friday 23rd of October. Guests this evening will be Go Ahead Drink Drink.

Blind Orphans impressed big time during the reunion concert at “Hydranten” Saturday night. Which was just as well, cause in the front row, they had two people coming all the way from Japan, just to experience their idols.

Rune will reunite with his old band, symphonic progrock legends Blind Orphans. The event will take place at Hydranten, Hamar October 3rd. This will be the only gig where the band will play their "Blind Leading The Blind" masterpiece from 1989 in its entirety. Tickets in advance is available here.

Master On Fire

Today, the spectacular debut-album from Arms On Fire was mastered. The album was mixed by Rune for Sounds Like You and this is a baby we’re truly proud of. If you can’t wait until the record is out, then Revolver (Oslo) is the place to be tonight! Arms On Fire will gig together with Kambodsja and they’ll start early at 9.30. Be there!

Propellerhead Record

I think it was back in 1997, we were introduced to a piece of software called ReBirth. Developed by Propellerhead, a small company from Sweden, it swept the feet underneath us (and a few thousand others) by emulating two Roland TB-303 synthesizers, a Roland TR-808, and a Roland TR-909 drum machine all at once. And ah...remember the mods? Then, a few years later came Reason which is an essential part of our setup today.

And now what? They have done what they never said they were going to do, namely audio-recording. Propellerhead Software are introducing Record, which will be available in fall. And although we have absolutely no plans of ditching the ProTools setup any day soon, this looks quite impressing. Mixer with full EQ and all. I guess this might come handy doing outside-of-studio recordings or anything involving a laptop. We’ll see.

Welcome to our new site

So, finally here it is, our new site up and running, version 3. So what took us so long? Well, time constraint is always a factor, plus we needed a new logo. And this time around, we decided to divide my (Frode) businesses and Runes music-activities by launching three...(yes 3) Sounds Like You sites. This one for music production and two upcoming sites for mac support and web design. And to be honest, this is not the first version of the redesign, far from it. But now we feel at home and just for fun, here’s a screenshot of our previous sites.

Tvang "Unik" released

Kan Tvang ta en Dungen?

Melodiøs indierock og shoegaze sunget på norsk er, for å bruke Tvangs egen platetittel, noe helt unikt. Derfor er det ekstra moro å kunne konstatere at morsmålsbruken i dette tilfellet spiller på lag med tjukke gitartepper, virtuost trommespill og smakfull harmonikoring. Som svenske Dungen har bevist kan dessuten et eksotisk språk være en større fremmer enn hemmer i internasjonal sammenheng. Tvang har holdt koken siden 2004 og platedebuterte med «Ny morgen» i forfjor, til gode kritikker. Oppfølgeren byr på bedre låter og mer selvsikker vokal, men framgangen skyldes først og fremst den klokkeklare produksjonen. Gjestene Andreas Hunstad (tangenter) og Marita Sørli (vokal) løfter flere spor, først og fremst «Helt alene» og «Noe som bør skje». Og bortsett fra et feiltråkk, floskelfylte «Biler og barn», holder hele albumet jevnt høy kvalitet.

The brand new song “In the Beginning Was Love” is written and sung by Mike Scott from The Waterboys. On this new One People single he's backed by Norwegian singers Noora Noor, Haddy N’jie and Line Thorstensen. The song is produced by Rune Lamøy (Sounds Like You) and Åsmund Gylder and mixed by Mike Hartung.

New studio location

We are now renting the studio Lydbadet on a regular basis. The studio is located in downtown Oslo in the same building as the well-known live venue, Rockefeller. Lydbadet is run by producer Jan-Tore Diesen - also known as a part of the norwegian electronica-act Bermuda Triangle. We are looking forward to have this great studio to our disposal which means we are now capable of doing full scale projects - pre production, recording and mixing.

The first One People album is now released in Norway. But don't despair if you live somewhere else because the album is also available on iTunes worldwide. And "Love Is Forever" featuring Sofian - the second single from this album - has been listed for radioplay on Kanal 24 and NRK P1 in Norway.

The first album from One People, Tatanka Volume 1 is scheduled for release November 17 in Norway. One People is a platform where musicians and artists from all over the world can come together to work for peace and oneness. Rune has written, produced and mixed the majority of the songs on the album.

Wiping the tears

...or Washigila in Dakota, is a Native American ritual meant to release the spirits of the dead and heal the grieving. This ritual is also the inspiration for the "Wiping the Tears 2006" concert which will be held in Oslo, Norway, November 17 at Valhall. Åsmund Gylder receives award

Åsmund Gylder was today given the award in memory of Hans Christian Ostrø for his commitment to the One People project. Ostrø was taken hostage and brutally killed by terrorists in Kashmir 1995, only 27 years old. The award has each year been given to artist and individuals who in one way or the other is working for peace and cultural unity. Åsmund was given the award in a small ceremony today by Liv Ullmann, Thorvald Stoltenberg and Anette Ostrø.
